What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tribal Home Visitor position at Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation?
Under the direction of the Director, the incumbent provides services to clients in their homes, alternative locations (parks, library, etc.) or virtually. Responsible for providing support, guidance, and resources to families in the tribal community. Services are tailored to the individual client’s needs in the areas of effectively and safely parenting their children (in-home parenting) and educating parents regarding child abuse prevention. Services also include child behavior management, establishing family structure, and guided and direct parent-child interaction sessions. A case plan to address safety, wellness and client/family goals will be created for every family unit. The Tribal Home Visitor is a grant funded position with an expected end date of June 30, 2026. Please note that as presently constructed, unless the grant is extended or renewed, your employment in the position will end when the grant expires in June 2026. High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Human Services, Social Services, early education field, or early childhood development required. Must be proficient in Word and Excel with experience with Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with urban Native communities or experience working with American Indian/Alaskan Native families. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in tight knit community. Will be required to transport clients (agency vehicle available) as well as travel to meetings and trainings. Must maintain a valid driver's license; must provide a yearly DMV Certified Driving History.
