Senior Portfolio Accounting & Reporting Analyst
A leading Boston-based investment management firm is seeking a highly motivated Senior Portfolio Accounting, Valuation, & Reporting (PVAR) Analyst to join its dynamic team. The firm, known for its long-term, value-oriented investment approach, manages capital across various asset classes, including public and private equities, private debt, and real estate. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment supporting a diverse global investment strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee valuation, accounting, and reporting analysis for a specific asset class or investment structure, ensuring accuracy and consistency across internal and external reports.
- Maintain and reconcile fund administrator books and records, performing shadow accounting as needed.
- Analyze and interpret complex investment structure legal and partnership documents.
- Conduct technical research on GAAP accounting pronouncements and related treatments for assigned asset classes.
- Support the internal private valuation process, including market updates, appraisal reviews, and communication with asset managers and external partners.
- Prepare financial statements and regulatory filings, including investor reports on portfolio returns, investment performance, and exposure.
- Ensure alignment of GAAP and U.S. tax accounting entries with internal and external stakeholders, with a preference for knowledge of Luxembourg GAAP.
- Collaborate across operations teams to identify and implement process improvements through automation, streamlined templates, and internal IT systems.
- Assist in audit-related processes, financial statement preparation, and valuation management reporting.
- Independently research and complete ad hoc projects as requested by senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or mathematics.
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in investment accounting, auditing, or valuation, preferably within investment management.
- Strong understanding of fair value principles, U.S. GAAP accounting treatments, and valuation methodologies across multiple asset classes.
- Familiarity with complex investment portfolios, including private equity, real estate, and structured products, is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to connect granular data points to broader financial objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with programming languages or macro development is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
