We have been an industry leader for fire protection services in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC area for over 40 years. We are based in Rockville, MD and have an excellent team of employees who are responsible for the design, installation, and inspection of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, kitchen fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and kitchen hood/duct systems. We have an extensive customer base with over 10,000 fire systems that we perform recurring inspection and repair services throughout the region. Our company is continually growing through its internal sales and marketing activities, strong reputation, and business acquisitions.
About the Opportunity
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end close processes. A strong background in inventory accounting is essential, as well as advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data effectively. Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment.
Compensation for the Staff Accountant
- This is a salaried position based on experience. Pay is negotiable.

Job Duties of the Staff Accountant
- Inventory Accounting: Maintain and reconcile inventory records, including tracking purchases, adjustments, and cost allocations.
- General Accounting: Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Assist with invoice processing, vendor payments, and customer billing as needed.
- Financial Analysis: Utilize Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros preferred) to analyze financial data, identify trends, and assist in forecasting.
- Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- System Management: Assist in maintaining financial data within Sage Intacct or other ERP systems.
- Audit Support: Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting workflows.
Qualifications of the Staff Accountant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on inventory management.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, and macros preferred).
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
