Job Description
Mason Classical Academy’s Principal will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the mission of the School. To this end, the principal will oversee curriculum and instruction; oversee and develop a classical school culture; and adhere to state educational requirements. The Principal will report directly to the Executive Director.
Requirements
Candidates should have a solid understanding of classical education and a commitment to the liberal arts. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, teaching experience, a record of leadership, and demonstrated abilities in speaking and writing.
Responsibilities
Oversight and implementation of Curriculum & Instructional items, including but not limited to:
· Guidance Counseling department
· Student Services department
· Faculty meetings
· Grading practices
· Curriculum
· Faculty and staff training
· Faculty and staff hiring
· Master school scheduling
· Course placement
· Faculty and staff evaluations
· Procuring school resources and supplies
· Florida Virtual School (FLVS)
· Substitute teachers
· Technology program
Oversight and implementation of School Culture items, including but not limited to:
· Maintain classical standards and decorum
· Student moral
· Student discipline
· Parental involvement
· Employee morale
· Field trips
· Assemblies
· High School Graduation
· Athletics
· After-school Clubs
· Events
· Food Services
· Communication
· Student and Faculty Awards
Oversight and implementation of Regulation items, including but not limited to:
· Testing
· AP testing
· Certification
· Budget
· Enrollment
· Safety and Security
· Work with Sponsor to fulfill charter agreement
· Operation of car line
· Faculty Master In-service Points requirements
· Understand and implement school policies and procedures
· Website
