Summary of Position :
Using specialized techniques, provides instruction in social and academic areas which meet individual and group needs of students who have been unable to succeed in established school settings
Performance Responsibilities :
Participate as a team member in designing an integrated program of instruction in all areas of curriculum, including academics, electives,vocational courses, health, and affective education.
Plan student curricula activities consistent with the concepts of continuous progress and continuity of caring.
Assess individual student's current level of functioning to determine needs in literacy and / or mathematics
Design and implement instructional programs to meet student's needs that are aligned to the Kentucky Core Academic Standards and the Program of Study
Demonstrate knowledge of and utilize effective differentiated curricula
Utilize effective and evidence based instructional strategies
Design, implement, communicate assessment results to appropriate stakeholders
Implement behavior management system to monitor individual student's program and progress.
Establish and maintain channels of communication with home, school and related agencies as necessary to the needs of individual students.
Assists in the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for each student
Maintain acceptable health and safety standards.
Participate in activities designated to promote professional growth.
Observe legal mandates.
Work collaboratively with other school personnel (on site and off site) to meet the needs of students.
