Position Overview:
Mason & Hamlin is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and dependable woodworker to join our team. This role will teach you how to construct, sand, and finish essential wooden piano components—a critical part of the piano-building process. Your work will directly contribute to the layout and structure of our renowned pianos. At Mason & Hamlin, you will be part of a tradition of artistry, precision, and craftsmanship .
Responsibilities:
- Cut, shape, and join wood and other materials to create piano parts.
- Assemble wooden components to form structures using glue, clamps, and other techniques.
- Sand and finish completed products to achieve a polished and professional appearance.
- Operate hand and power tools, such as saws, planes, drills, and sanders with precision.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures when handling potentially hazardous equipment and materials.
Requirements:
- Ready to learn new skills and factory procedures.
- Proven experience or strong interest in woodworking.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical documents.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Familiarity with various woodworking techniques and tools.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and maneuver heavy materials as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational school is preferred.
- Previous experience in the woodworking industry is a plus.
- Basic proficiency in English is preferred.
