Job Summary :
The MRI Tech performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures and diagnostic radiology exams.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Performs routine and advanced MRI procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and / or injury.
Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination.
Prepares patients for MRI procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure and positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned.
Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed.
Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company-sponsored training programs.
Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Education and Experience :
Completion of an accredited Radiology program required
ARRT MRI registered or registry required within 2 years of employment as a MRI technologist.
Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
Required Licenses, Certifications and / or Registrations :
Current active status with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Washington State Certification in Radiologic Technology
