Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains a welcoming, calm and professional environment in the clinic at all times.
- Performs a variety of reception and administrative duties while assuring patients and guests are greeted promptly and courteously and showing sensitivity to their needs: schedules same day patients for visits as directed, assists with interpreter services, assists patients in completing forms, enters accurate patient/insurance information in computer database, notifies appropriate staff when patient is ready, provides information to patient regarding defined policies and procedures, uses designated notification process to contact the correct charge person in emergencies, maintains a presentable waiting room area. Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains necessary authorization. Identifies and collects co-pay amounts.
- Serve as a mentor to all new and existing employees in job shadow functions as it relates to registration duties.
- Collects copayments and logs payment in accordance with department policy. Reconciles copies and compiles checks, cash and original credit card slips. Prepares and reconciles daily deposit for transmittal to business office.
- Serves as a point of contact for both internal and external customers as it relates to patient registration. Displays professionalism and promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Communicates to patients, family members and visitors with courtesy and tact. Responsible for maintaining a healthy relationship with hospital and clinic personnel to communicate account information.
- Works collaboratively with team members within the clinic and with co-workers within the hospital. Participates in organizational engagement/quality/process improvement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of clerical experience/medical office experience preferred
