- The Surgery Tech works under the supervision and delegator authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe care of patients during invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures. Supports the surgical team and assists with patient care in the operating room and procedure room by effectively handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical and endoscopy procedures. Applies knowledge and training to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure, anticipates the surgical team’s needs, and maintains the sterile field.
- Assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
- Functions as a patient advocate while assisting surgeon.
- Assists the nursing team through the steps of the surgical experience.
- Communicates effectively and performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Completion of an accredited training program in Surgical Technology.
- One year of operating room experience ( preferred).
- Current Surgical Technician registration in the state of Washington
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required by 6 months of hire.
Salary : $30 - $43
