Job Summary: The Summer Childcare Aide assists in the care and supervision of children during the summer. They help implement fun and enriching activities, ensure children's safety, and provide support to lead childcare staff. The Summer Childcare Aide also communicates effectively with both children and parents to help maintain a caring and positive atmosphere.
Required Qualifications:
- Be 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Positive attitude and rapport with students and staff
- Must be dependable, neat, and organized
- Ability to follow directions and take initiative with activities
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with children 4 years old to 5th grade
- Current First Aid Certification
- Current CPR Certification
Job Description
- Willingness to work with groups of students ages 4-12
- Ensure safety of all students in our care
- Able to independently handle the responsibilities of a caring for a group of children, including, managing student behavior
- Assist students in completing crafts, group games, free play
- Actively participate in indoor and outdoor play with children
- Assist in keeping classrooms, gyms, group areas, tables, outdoor areas and toys clean and sanitized
- Perform duties assigned by the lead teacher
- Assist in promoting and supervising the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child through engaging students in activities, games, etc provided to your classroom
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality for all school-related information
- Interact with children and parents in a positive, caring, and concerned manner
- Willing and physically capable to walk distances and participate in all field trips, classroom activities and playground/gym activities
- Assist with prepping and serving breakfast and snacks
- Must follow all childcare license rules and regulations
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking
- The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the day
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations
Available: June 5, 2025 - August 8, 2025 (some meeting and prep work before/after those dates will be required). End date could be extended depending on when the first day of school takes place.
Schedule:
- 5.5 hour shifts - some AM, some PM throughout the summer
- **Closed July 3 and 4 for holiday
Wages: $15.00 per hour (no signing bonus)
