About the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
The Licensed Practical Nurse directs assigned Certified Nursing Assistants and delivers quality person-centered nursing care ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and the safety and well-being of the Residents of the Masonic Home of Virginia. Other duties as assigned. PRN employees are required to work 3 shifts per month, with 2 of those shifts being on the weekend.

Responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
- Monitors staff compliance with unit systems and processes to promote efficient and effective quality person-centered Resident care and follows up as indicated. Monitors staff compliance with report resource directions and follows up as indicated.
- Communicates, collaborates, acts and directs assigned Certified Nursing Assistants and Registered Medication Aides as indicated to assure Residents’ needs are met appropriately.
- Documents assessments and interventions completely and legibly.
- Is proficient in the use of all required functions related to the Electronic Medication Administration System. Administers medications and treatments in compliance with the Home’s policy and procedure.
- Promotes quality person-centered Resident care by administering medications and treatments as ordered, by assessing individual Residents’ needs during every two-hour rounds and more frequently as indicated, and by following up as appropriate; and promotes positive unit morale.
Qualifications of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions; CPR certified
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Previous experience in healthcare with a general knowledge of assisted daily living needs preferably in a long-term care or continuing care retirement community setting serving the elderly
