About the Memory Care Activities Specialist: Under the supervision of the Life Enrichment Manager, plans and implements therapeutic, leisure, and recreational programs designed to provide activities that promote the health, well-being, and functional ability for Residents of MAHOVA with a focus in the high care areas.
Qualifications of the Memory Care Activities Specialist:
- Five years’ experience in the application of therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities in a geriatric environment with a focus on dementia care preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an activities or health services related field preferred. ADC a plus.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License; CPR and First Aid certified

Responsibilities of the Memory Care Activities Specialist:
- Plans, organizes, evaluates, and delivers person-centered therapeutic activity programs focusing on our higher care areas designed to meet the highest practical level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being for each individual resident.
- Collaborates with Life Enrichment Manager in the planning and execution of all resident activities.
- Conducts initial activities assessments for admissions to care areas with a focus on Resident’s life history and activity preferences.
- Supports completion of resident MDS assessments and tracks participation in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with the Life Enrichment Manager to purchase items to conduct activities and monitor budget items such as food, supplies, and contract services.
- Provides direction and modeling (for all care area residents) to assist staff in conducting person-centered activities for Residents
- Responsible for planning monthly calendar in collaboration with Life Enrichment Manager for high care areas
