What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Researcher position at Masonic Medical Research Institute - MMRI?
The Masonic Medical Research Institute (mmri.edu) is looking for enthusiastic candidates to join the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Nystoriak. Successful candidates will join a research program which focuses on biological processes that underlie cardiovascular health and disease. To achieve these goals, we use multidisciplinary approaches that span in vivo imaging techniques, cellular electrophysiology, and fluorescence microscopy. While a base level of experience will be important for a successful candidate, we equally weigh enthusiasm, curiosity, long-term potential, and team fit for anyone who might join the lab. The important thing is that your goals fit with those of the group at MMRI, and that our group is a good fit for you.
Specific projects address:
o Determining how cardiac metabolism regulates blood flow to the heart across the lifespan
o Voltage-gated ion channel structure-function relationships as they relate to intermediary metabolism and membrane excitability
o Cardiac arrhythmia susceptibility and electrical remodeling upon exposure to environmental toxins
In addition to internally driven projects, our group also has extensive collaborations with investigators at multiple institutions across the country.
