What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Forklift Operator position at Masonite?
Job Purpose
The Diesel Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a diesel forklift and movement of large lumber throughout the plant. The Diesel Forklift Operator will also stack material, load trailers, and empty full containers throughout the facility efficiently.
Primary Role and Responsibilities
- Follow all safety practices
- Maintain a clean and safe loading and staging work area (5s)
- Responsible for organizing lumber, including correctly identifying raw lumber to load into machines
- Coordinate with supervisor to empty full containers and bins in and around the facility
- Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times
- Assist other areas of production as needed
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in an industrial setting
- 1 year of heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to drive a large lift capable of moving 4,000 lbs.
- Lots of energy for walking, getting on and off lift, & unwrapping units of lumber for 10 hr. shift
- Excellent mental alertness and attention to detail
- Good work history and attendance record
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
- High School diploma or GED preferred
Shift:
Day Shift: 6:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-Th, occasional OT on Fridays
Night Shift: 5:05 p.m. – 3:35 a.m., occasional OT on Fridays
