Key Responsibilities:
- Plan joints, assemble parts, and perform partial assemblies.
- Sandblast wood surfaces.
- Operate woodworking machines such as power saws, varlopes, mortisers, shapers, and use hand tools to cut, shape, and form parts.
- Study plans, specifications, or drawings of items to be manufactured, or prepare specifications.
- Mark outlines or dimensions of parts on wood.
- Use woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and routers, and hand tools to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
- Trim joints and assemble parts and subassemblies to form a complete unit using glue and clamps, and reinforce joints using nails, screws, or other fasteners.
- Sand wood surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or varnish to finished products.
- Repair or remodel wood accessories and related products.
- Estimate the quantity, type, and cost of materials required.
- Must have basic reading and writing skills.
- Ability to diagnose and carry out minor wood repairs.
- Pushing/pulling 100# with help rarely (up to 13% in a 10-hour day).
