Summary:
Full Time Practice Manager with benefits at our Longwood Campus in the Otolaryngology Dept.
Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, Boston and the Division Chief, the Practice Manager is vital to the team and responsible for staff supervision and administrative management of the practice as well as special projects.
Role Duties:
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the practices, including ensuring smooth workflows, efficient practices and maximization of resources. Promotes a positive work environment that is team-oriented and patient-centric. Develops process to promote teamwork. Hires, trains, appraises, disciplines and terminates the practice staff following HR policies and procedures. Hold staff accountable. Manages vacation and time off requests as well as same day coverage. Works with leadership on important initiatives including systems implementations, patient experience initiatives and departmental initiatives.
- Ensures sufficient staff allocation to always meet patient demand
- Monitors daily clinical flow to maximize patient encounters. Takes measures to alleviate clinical delays
- Resolves patient complaints and refers unusual cases to the Patient Care Representative
- Orders and maintains stock levels of practice and office supplies.
- Attends administrative meetings as requested or as regularly scheduled
- Performs all the tasks performed by the medical administrative assistants. Provides coverage when needed.
- Ensures staff as well as self complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient, staff and business information. Fosters an atmosphere where staff maintain the same standard
- Works with leadership on special projects
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or services appropriate to the age of patients served in the Department.
- Demonstrates the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's needs relative to his/her age
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare Administration; Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Prior supervision of staff preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a high-volume health care setting.
- Clinical experience preferred.
- Computer literacy required, including familiarity with health care medical record systems, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Budget and staff professional development experience strongly preferred.
