Job Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

We are offering a paid Research Administration internship for undergraduates interested in pursuing a career in management, public health, non-governmental organizations, health services, human resources, or research administration. The internship will focus on HIV and Aging and will last for 10 weeks during the summer season. Note that this internship is one of two open HIV/Aging internship opportunities. Click here to find more detailed information.

The HIV/Aging Research Administration Internship leverages business and management skills to support the research community, and careers in research administration offer ample opportunity for movement between institutions and scientific or medical subspecialties, as well as growth and leadership opportunities.

Each intern will be paired with a specific Program Manager mentor from the Medical Practice Evaluation Center (MPEC) or the Center for Aging & Serious Illness (CASI). Then, each intern will spend 2-3 weeks with a Clinical Research Coordinator, Program Manager, and Faculty Investigator to participate in a variety of projects and work that reflect these types of careers.

At MPEC, research teams use computer simulation models and cost-effectiveness analysis, as well as implementation science and epidemiology to address questions of value in health care with a primary focus on HIV and its complications and associated conditions. CASI brings together multidisciplinary researchers (e.g., medical doctors, surgeons, physical therapists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and social workers) across Mass General Hospital and the Boston community to improve the well-being of older adults and enhance the lived experience of people with advanced illnesses to achieve health equity and to holistically shape health policy.
