The practice’s holistic approach to orthopedics involves coordination of personalized services within the practice and with other providers, to ensure a comprehensive range of care to people of all ages. We have combined expertise in all major orthopedic specialties, including sports medicine, orthopedic trauma, hand & upper extremities, joint replacement and spine care.
We Are Seeking a Full-time, 40-hour, Physician Assistant To Support Both Our Hatfield And Amherst Clinics, And To Serve As First-assist In The Operating Room. The PA’s Schedule Will Be As Follows

- Mondays: Operating room at Cooley Dickinson Hospital
- Tuesdays: Early morning rounds at Cooley Dickinson Hospital followed by Hatfield clinic from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays: Early morning rounds at Cooley Dickinson Hospital followed by Amherst clinic from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- The PA will also have 1:1 call responsibilities (one in five weekends)

Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.

- 3 years of experience as a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery strongly preferred
