Contract Dates: 09/01/2025-05/31/2026. Please note: This is an initial one year appointment with the option to be extended for an additional 2 yrs per MSCA contract
Salary Range: $66,000-$72,000
The Film/Video Department at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design seeks a committed temporary faculty member and artist working in Sound Art and Moving Image to join our existing faculty and staff community. We seek a faculty member who demonstrates a deep engagement with sound as a creative artistic medium and has a desire to work with a diverse group of moving image student artists. Our curriculum embraces significant exploration with form and content and encompasses contemporary practices including multi-channel installation, transmedia and video art as well as experimental 16mm and handmade film.
We invite applications from candidates who prioritize a diverse, inclusive curriculum. The temporary faculty member will teach required undergraduate major studio classes and studio electives. We seek faculty who teach in and/or across media and content, particularly in the realms of sound art and diverse and inclusive Moving Image.
As part of their service, the new faculty member will supervise students in departmental installation shows and screenings; co-host departmental social gatherings, provide academic advising for undergraduate students; review MFA student applicants and co-critique undergraduate review boards.

Minimum Qualifications:
We are seeking a colleague who:
- Demonstrates the ability to teach a range of skills and technologies necessary to successfully guide a student through the creation of personal moving image work from pre to post production including: recording audio, shooting, editing, and sound design.
- Is well-versed in experimental media and installation.
- Has a demonstrated record of achievement in a personal sound and moving image arts practice.
- Has two or more years teaching experience at the college level.
- Demonstrates a proven record of diverse, inclusive content in courses taught.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are seeking a colleague who:
- Has a MFA or equivalent.
- Demonstrates technical expertise in the creation of sound art and experimental sound design using ProTools. We welcome applicants with experience in experimental video, 16mm film, installation, expanded cinema, new genres/new media, AI, AR,/VR, interactive work.
- Has tangible experience working collaboratively.
- Is experienced with emerging media production and post-production technologies.
