GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Associate Director of Admission at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will play a pivotal role in driving the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse and talented student body. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to recruit, evaluate, and select prospective students, with a particular focus on fostering relationships with high schools, community organizations, and other partners to enhance MCLA's visibility and recruitment efforts. The Associate Director will also contribute to the overall enrollment management strategy, support the admission team, and ensure that MCLA's admission processes align with institutional goals.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Admission.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Undergraduate admission counselors (APA), work-study students and student ambassadors in the Office of Admission

Recruitment & Outreach

Cultivate relationships with high school guidance counselors, community organizations, and prospective students to generate interest in MCLA.

Manage recruitment territory and travel schedule, representing MCLA at college fairs, high school visits, on campus and virtual events to engage prospective students and families.

Coordinate recruitment efforts in targeted geographic areas and underrepresented student populations.

Supervision & Team Leadership

Supervise, mentor, and support a team of admission counselors, ensuring professional development and performance goals are met.

Foster a collaborative, goal-oriented team environment to help meet recruitment targets and improve the student experience throughout the admission cycle.

Organize training and workshops to keep the team informed about best practices in student recruitment and retention.

Application Review

Supervise the review and evaluation of applications, including academic records, essays, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.

Collaborate with the Director and the Admission team to ensure the application process is holistic and aligned with institutional goals for diversity and academic excellence.

Assist in development and implementation of admission policies and procedures.

Evaluate first-year and transfer applicants within assigned territory.

Admissions Counseling

Serve as a point of contact for prospective students and their families, providing expert guidance on the admissions process, MCLA programs, and campus life.

Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from prospective students, high school counselors, and other stakeholders.

Advise students on application requirements, deadlines, and available financial aid options.

Conduct interviews and information sessions to engage prospective students and their families, providing personalized guidance and support throughout the admissions process.

Event Planning

Oversee the planning and execution of MCLA's recruitment events, including open houses, campus tours, and admitted student days.

Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of events to engage prospective students, families, and high school counselors.

Organize on-campus visits, virtual info sessions, and admitted student events, collaborating with faculty, current students, and staff to provide a welcoming and informative experience.

Collaboration & Campus Engagement

Work closely with other departments, including Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Alumni Relations, to provide prospective students with a holistic view of life at MCLA.

Contribute to institutional committees and initiatives, including diversity and inclusion efforts, academic partnerships, and student success programs.

Partner with the Office of Academic Advising and Support to provide guidance on academic pathways and onboarding.

Communication & Marketing

Assist in the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies to attract prospective students, including digital campaigns, email outreach, and print materials.

Support and contribute to maintaining a presence on social media platforms to effectively engage with prospective students.

Ensure all Admissions web pages are current, accurate, and aligned with MCLA's brand and values.

Other

Assist with campus and community programs and events.

Represent the admissions office on college working groups and committees.

Be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for recruitment events and travel.

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required.
2-4 years' experience in an undergraduate Office of Admission.
Ability to travel throughout the recruitment seasons (8-10 weeks in the fall and some spring travel).
Strong written and oral communication skills, public speaking experience.
Fluency is Spanish preferred.
Experience with Slate CRM preferred.
Quantitative skills and the ability to analyze data for purposes of admissions recruitment.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work effectively with others to meet institutional enrollment goals.
Creatively and accurately articulate the goals of a liberal arts college.
Familiarity with MCLA and program offerings.
Valid driver's license.

Additional Information:
This is a full-time benefited position in the APA bargaining unit. Annual salary range is $65,000 - $70,000.
