The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is excited to offer a career growth opportunity to a motivated and talented individual for the Accountant I position to function in the Northeast Regional Business Office located in Danvers, MA. The Business Office is responsible for the purchasing of goods, contracting for services and managing Accounts Payable for a Regional Office, 5 Area Offices, the Hogan Regional Center and over 75 residential homes.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Manages incoming Purchase Order Requests by reviewing information for accuracy and data entering the relevant information in Excel to assign a Purchase Order number.
- Enters Purchase Order Request data into the Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System (MMARS)
- Entering payment transactions in MMARS
- Reviews invoices and corresponding proof of delivery for accuracy prior to processing for payment.
- Learns all facets of Business Office activities and performs related duties as required.
- Forecasting expenses and management of accounts (e.g., Market Basket, Costco, etc.) is an essential function.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access and Word.
- Knowledge of MMARS preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to write concisely and to express thoughts clearly.
- Must be able to deal with a variety of circumstances tactfully and professionally.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships.
- Must maintain a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment.
Schedule:
Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week
Hours: 7:45 AM-4:00 PM Monday-Friday
Days Off: Saturday/Sunday
