What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic 1st Class position at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary - MEI?
Under general direction, inspects, monitors and repairs the many and various systems, utilities and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for adhering to assigned work orders, conducts building tours as directed. 2. Performs a variety of minor repair functions. 3. Monitor the Building Automation System and responds to alarms, fire alarms, utility interruptions, and makes required notifications. 4. Troubleshoots problems with equipment on all floors of all hospital buildings to assess the nature of the problem, the urgency for the user, and instigates an appropriate response. 5. Maintains communication links with Public Safety Department personnel. 6. Familiar with emergency response procedures to ensure the timely response of staff to prevent losses. 7. Subject to a call in anytime for emergencies. 8. Respond to problems of all trades during off shift hours as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school or vocational school diploma or equivalent. - One to two years similar healthcare facilities environment desired. - Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of mechanical systems.
