Schedule : 24 hours, Day / Night rotation 7am-7 : 30pm with rotation to 7pm-7 : 30am, Every other weekend, holiday rotation.
Job Summary
As an integrated part of Brigham and Women's Emergency Department, staff at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital's Emergency Department provides compassionate and personalized care to every patient who comes through our doors. Our board-certified emergency physicians, physician assistants, nurses and unit service techs have extensive experience in emergency care. We have a 21-bed unit and staffing ratios for nursing are 4 to 1. We stagger our nursing shifts throughout the day to cover the highest volume times with the most staff. We care for patients of all ages, including pediatric patients, and work as a team to provide the best possible treatment. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our new patient care model has been designed to provide high-quality, efficient care, and to reduce unnecessary wait times. Diagnostic X-ray, CT scan and ultrasound services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and MRI is available for most of the day, seven days a week. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a Primary Stroke Center and are in process of initiating a TeleStroke Program in collaboration with BWH and MGH.
Qualifications
- BSN required. - Massachusetts Registered Nurse License required.
- BLS required
- Must obtain ACLS prior to end of orientation and may not practice independently without ACLS
- PALS preferred - Newly licensed nurse must obtain ACLS and PALS within first six (6) months of employment
- ED experience strongly preferred.
- 2 years' telemetry experience preferred.
- Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. standards.
- Must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
- Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time / priority management.
