What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preventative Maintenance Mechanic position at Massachusetts General Hospital?
Performs routine preventive maintenance (PM) on operating mechanical equipment throughout the Hospital. Provides information for the P.M. program. Responds to emergency calls. Responsible for snow removal as needed.

Essential Functions
-Performs routine preventive maintenance on automatic doors and roll up doors and fire doors.
-Perform routine preventive maintenance on laundry chutes.
-Assist Automatic Door Technician with installation of new automatic doors.
-Repair various hospital equipment: kitchen equipment, pallet jacks, and SPD carts.
-Responds to emergency calls for the memios trash and linen system.
-Ensure all work is completed within ICRA & ILSM guideline.
-May be required to assist other trades as needed.
-Responsible for snow removal as needed.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent Related Field of Study required or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Related Field of Study required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of mechanics, tool usage, pneumatics
- Physical ability to climb stairs, ladders and walk almost constantly. Occasionally is required to work in confined areas
- Interpersonal skills to exchange information with other shop's personnel about work needed, to provide on-the-job training and to conduct formal skill-building training classes
- NFPA Hot Work Certification required
