Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Data Science, the Principal Data Scientist is a senior-level experienced scientist with a problem-solving mindset, responsible for analyzing data, uncovering the underlying data patterns and logic, and developing data-driven applications using innovative methods in data science such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and large language models. These techniques will be used to build cutting-edge solutions to support healthcare operations and to help us with our vision of "A Healthier World".
The Principal Data Scientist is responsible for developing solutions for the entire problem-solving cycle : finding / prioritizing the problems, researching the best algorithms to solve them, designing robust, practical solvers, and implementing them in the healthcare environment. The ultimate purpose of the Principal Data Scientist's work is developing solutions that make hospital operations more efficient, reliable, and integrated, improving staff productivity and patient satisfaction.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develops and / or uses advanced AI / Machine Learning (ML) and predictive modeling techniques to solve business problems.
- Consults with clinical leaders to understand problems and goals and translate these needs into advanced analytics solutions.
- Wrangles structured and unstructured data to identify patterns and provide meaningful insights to the stakeholders which would aid in decision making.
- Leads large, complex projects involving coordination with multiple stakeholders and delegation of tasks to junior team members.
- Reviews code written by others, enforcing coding guidelines and best practices.
- Collaborate across multiple teams.
- Communicate predictive model results to clinical leaders and stakeholders through presentations prepared for audiences at various levels of leadership and technical expertise.
- Provide ongoing tracking and monitoring of performance of models and recommend ongoing improvements to methods and algorithms that lead to findings, including new information.
- Mentors junior data scientists and data analysts.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
