Civil Enforcement Unit/Gaming Enforcement Division The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Civil Enforcement Unit (CEU) of the Gaming Enforcement Division. The CEU is responsible for investigating and bringing civil enforcement actions to address illegal or impermissible gaming activity, with a particular focus on online gambling platforms, Daily Fantasy Sports platforms, and related activities operating in violation of state law. The CEU collaborates closely with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) and other enforcement bodies to address gaming-related legal violations, including violations of state consumer protection laws or other regulatory noncompliance. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a developing area of gaming law enforcement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Paralegal will provide day-to-day support for all aspects of the attorneys' case responsibilities and the CEU's work, including complaint assessment, direct engagement with constituents and businesses, and investigation and litigation support. The Paralegal will also be responsible for reviewing consumer complaints and analyzing trends in complaint data to identify potential civil enforcement actions, drafting correspondence and legal memoranda, compiling investigative reports, and performing other duties as requested by CEU attorneys. Case management is also a critical component of this role, including organizing files, preparing exhibits for enforcement proceedings, trial support, and coordinating with the MGC and other enforcement partners. Additionally, the Paralegal will respond to public inquiries related to gaming law violations, as needed. Some administrative and clerical duties, such as intake processing, document filing, scheduling, and general office support will also be required.
Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt.
Additional Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which may include some telework days. This position is also subject to the Enhanced Code of Ethics adopted pursuant to M.G.L. c. 12, § 11M(c).
Salary: $53,762
