Massachusetts School Building Authority seeks a Web Application Developer 2 for our Boston, MA office for the analysis, architecture, development, testing, and implementation of front-end applications including complex and high-profile projects to ensure a positive overall end-user experience. Work closely with IT team members to ensure application interfaces reflect the MSBA’s mission, while adhering to defined requirements, UI standards, and best practices. Analyze user requirements and provide recommendations for application architecture and front-end designs. Work with the Business Analyst and Database Development Teams to design and develop cohesive solutions to support the business needs. Design, develop, test, and implement component- based applications (enhancements and new interfaces as defined) including more complex and objective laden projects, within defined schedules. Stay current on new and evolving technologies and provide recommendations to best meet business needs and to ensure a scalable, maintainable, user-friendly platform; adapt to changing technologies and recommend utilization of new technologies where appropriate. Maintain an understanding of MSBA business processes and workflows to develop and align web applications appropriately. Provide recommendations and prototypes as needed for new and enhanced front-end designs and technologies to ensure code base is current and to provides positive usability and intuitive user designs. Perform unit and integration testing. Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. Maintain and reengineer existing MSBA custom applications. Provide continuous review of computer systems and applications. Maintain quality and version control of all applications, as they are updated and revised. Support the MSBA’s and client users of web applications through problem solving and troubleshooting of various issues as they arise. Provide guidance and be a resource to other Web Application Developers on the team. Support the development and ongoing maintenance of MSBA website, as required.
This position allows for hybrid work at a minimum of 2 days in the office and from home 3 days per week.

- VB.net/C#/asp.net web/windows development using Visual Studio and/or PHP and Drupal, including application development, implementation, and testing.

- Microsoft technologies and understanding of web configurations in IIS.
- Azure environments/apps.
- SQL Server.
- Working in an Agile environment.
- JavaScript and JavaScript libraries such as JQuery and Knockout, Bootstrap.

- Object orient programming.
- Enterprise Library and a middle tier architecture.
- Writing WCF, web services and security.
- LINQ, including using VSS and TFS source code repositories.
- Hosting web applications and handling change management in the cloud; and
- Project Management Methodologies, including Agile and ITIL.
