BASIC FUNCTION
Massanetta Springs Summer staff supports the mission of Massanetta Springs to be "a place for all people to experience God through renewal, discovery, and hospitality" by primarily filling the roles of Netta Day Camp (NDC) Counselors and Recreation/Program staff throughout the summer season. Roles may change weekly depending on program needs or staff interest and skills, but the primary responsibility is in a counseling role.
Summer staff are invited to live as an on-site community while working during the season to provide a positive and meaningful experience for staff and guests throughout the summer.
Summer staff may rotate between positions on approximately a weekly basis. While staff may be performing different roles, all of these positions are a vital part of the Massanetta Springs community and mission.
May be eligible for internship credits through some academic programs.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Netta Day Camp Counselor
· Leading and supervising campers (ages 6-12) throughout the Day Camp schedule
· Practice awareness for the needs of individual campers and communicating this with supervisors as needed
· Being attentive to overall camper group dynamics
· Supervise and learn with campers during activities while not actively leading
· Engage and lead campers through weekly Bible Story curriculum (to be provided)
· Learn and lead camp songs and energizers
Recreation/Program Staff
· Leading activities for NDC or other Massanetta programs including, archery, team building, campfire
cooking (training provided during staff week)
· Leading group activities for NDC overnight on Thursday evenings
· Taking pictures of programs to be shared with camper families and for marketing
· Lifeguarding for Massanetta programs and groups (Ask about certification opportunities)
· Supporting other program areas as needed
· Other duties as assigned by supervisors

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, & COMPENSATION
Age: Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience: Experience in childcare or camp programs is helpful, but not required
Skills & Qualifications
· Supports the mission of Massanetta Springs to be “a place for all people to experience God through renewal, discovery, and hospitality”.
· Provide information for and clear background check prior to starting work
· Practice self-awareness to be open with summer supervisors about mental and physical needs and concerns
· Willing to fully engage with each role assigned
· Able to maintain or obtain First Aid/CPR certification
· Lifeguard training encouraged and available
Work Schedule
· Optional Lifeguard Training dates: May 29-31 (ask for more information if interested)
· Mandatory Staff Training Week: June 2-8, 2024
· Summer season runs from June 2-August 10** Applicants should come prepared with dates they hope to have off during the summer
· Specific work hours may vary based on weekly assignments
· Staff are guaranteed daily break time in addition to 1-2 days off per week

Working Conditions: periods of concentrated work requiring high stamina; ability to work in active program in predominantly outdoor setting on hilly, historic site
Physical requirements: The position requires walking, sitting standing, running, moderate hiking, talking, perhaps some jumping, and listening. Should have swimming skills sufficient to play with and supervise children in shallow water (in addition to the lifeguard on duty).
Certifications: Existing lifeguard, CPR/First Aid certifications are all a plus, but not necessary
Compensation:
· $320/weekly rate (including training and weeks worked)
· Bonuses earned for working 5-6 weeks or 7-9 weeks
· On-site housing for duration of employment
· Most meals provided during the summer
