The Human Resources (HR) Operations Generalist provides comprehensive HR support to faculty, staff, and administrators across various functions, including HR operations, benefit management, employment, total compensation, employee relations, training and development, and talent management. This role ensures the effective implementation and administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs to maintain compliance with College guidelines and regulatory requirements, while promoting a positive work environment that contributes to academic excellence.
The incumbent is an exempt and confidential employee as defined in M.G. L. Chapter 150E, Section 1. The HR Operations Generalist is expected to maintain an exceptionally high degree of confidentiality, discretion and customer service in all matters related to this position.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a point of contact for HR-related inquiries from faculty, staff, and external vendors.
- Strategically oversee the HR department's budget, ensuring financial accountability through meticulous expense tracking and reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations by aligning HR processes, policies, and documentation with legal standards.
- Drive HR excellence by supporting key functions, such as talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, compliance audits, and document control systems.
- Lead the development and enhancement of HR communications, such as policies, procedures, and comprehensive training materials, to promote transparency and engagement.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to execute college-wide HR initiatives and strategic projects, strengthening organizational alignment.
- Safeguard confidentiality while managing sensitive correspondence and data with the utmost discretion.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of HR-related data, utilizing multiple systems to produce comprehensive reports, support decision-making, and address information requests.
- Oversee operational processes, such as personnel action processing, electronic requisitions, correspondence drafting, and database management, ensuring high levels of accuracy and efficiency across platforms like HR/CMS, Interview Exchange, and Banner.
- Champion process improvements, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance departmental effectiveness.
- Provide cross-functional support by mastering other HR functions to ensure operational continuity as needed.
- Actively represent the HR department on college committees, contributing to institutional goals and priorities.
- Participate in projects and assume additional responsibilities as required to advance the mission and objectives of the HR department.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience to successfully perform the essentials of the job.
- Five years of Human Resources experience.
- Ability to multi-task, manage competing time-sensitive priorities, complex projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a high-volume environment, and under tight deadlines.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential matters.
- Ability to represent HR in a positive engaging manner.
- Ability to be a collaborative HR professional and team player.
- Ability to balance the needs of individual employees within the context of Community College policies, practices and operating principles.
- Ability to understand, interpret and explain complex documents such as policy and procedure manuals, federal and state laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Experience in Human Resources, Payroll or in a Higher Education setting.
Additional Information:
Position Status: Full-time benefited, Non-Unit Professional/Exempt, state funded position
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday, In-Person
Salary: $74,426 - $85,000 Annually based on education and experience
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites
