Education & Experience
Experience: 1 year
License, Registration and/or Certification Requirement: Yes
Functions:
- Functions in the role as staff nurse and provides direct care to meet the needs of the residents as needed/required.
- Participates in inspections (surveys) conducted by authorized agencies.
- Provides safe resident care while demonstrating knowledge and competency in completing assigned treatments and procedures according to established standards and policies.
- Participates in quality assurance and improvement processes within the facility.
- Incorporates age-specific needs, provision of care, procedures, and treatments.
- Accurately completes routine tasks without the need of direct supervision.
- Effectively communicates pertinent resident information at change of shift and during transfer of residents.
- Accurately transcribes and administers medications according to the ‘five rights’ of medication administration and documents the same.
- Accurately documents care provided, along with updating resident care plans with any changes in plan of care, as part of routine responsibilities.
- Accurately performs treatments utilizing aseptic or clean technique.
- Accurately administers prescribed enteral feedings.
- Completes resident care-related activities within scheduled shift time periods.
- Exhibits calm behavior and uses professional judgement while working in a team approach during emergency situations.
- Exhibits professional conduct and behavior through cooperative interactions with others and accepts personal responsibility for their own actions.
- Reports any change in condition of a resident to the appropriate supervisor.
- Reports any resident care issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Effectively delegates responsibilities to the CNA staff on a daily basis.
