Litigation Paralegal
Our growing and dynamic, mixed personal injury and business litigation firm located in the Uptown area of Houston has a full-time opportunity for a detail-oriented, experienced Paralegal. On a day-to-day basis, the right candidate will provide litigation support to one or two attorneys, including performing research, preparing legal documents, and working collaboratively in our team-oriented
environment.
Essential Functions
- Prepare, proofread, and process correspondence, memoranda, and other documents
- Prepare templates and initial drafts for pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and related litigation documents
- Research law and investigative facts
- Review and summarize client documents and documents obtained through discovery
- Prepare subpoenas and other legal process and coordinate service
- Conduct background checks
- Review and confirm docketing entries
- Organize and manage case files
- Assist in scheduling, and preparing for in-person and virtual meetings, conferences, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, and court staff
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal in a litigation practice environment
- Familiar with legal terminology, legal documents, legal processes, docketing protocols, and various forms of legal filings, including electronic filing requirements in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings
- Accurate typing of at least 40 words per minute
- Strong computer proficiency with MS Office (including PowerPoint), document management, time entry, electronic filing, Clio, and cloud-based database software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy
- Superior organizational skills including filing, calendaring and proofreading
- Time management skills, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Compensation and Benefits
