What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional III position at MassHire Lowell Career Center ?
Sign on bonus : $ (50% paid at 6 months / 50% paid at 12 months)
Schedule Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 3p-11p. Staff meeting on the second Thursday of the month 9a-11a
Treat all individuals with dignity and respect. Foster independence in individuals while respecting their unique abilities and challenges. Support individuals in taking control over routines and activities in their home. Deliver personalized support in individuals' homes tailored to meet their needs. Facilitate connections and resources in the community to promote well-being and inclusion. Collaborate with clinicians, therapists, family liaison, medical professionals, and specialists to create care plans.
Follow all routines, including Behavior Support Plans, personal care, and Physical Therapy. Teach, assist, and support individuals to learn, practice, and master skills to assume socially valued roles.
Equip families with knowledge and tools to advocate effectively for their loved ones. Support each individual's existing relationships and expand their social network. Ensure individuals can explore and express interest in community membership. Support health and well-being by accompanying individuals to appointments, ensuring proper diet, and following medical instructions.
Safeguard the privacy and security of individual, family, and organizational information in compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
Show respect and cultural sensitivity toward differences in ethnicity, culture, and personal preferences.
Complete agency training and professional development within six months of employment. Implement ISP / Support Plans and strategies as written and as required. Demonstrate accurate data collection and use of support strategies to promote success. Maintain precise data within confidential individual records using the agency's database. Advocate for the individual and family, supporting the accomplishment of goals. Assist with personal needs, fund management, and maintaining individual expenses in accordance with guidelines.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in direct support, disability services, or related areas. Prior experience working with individuals with intensive behavioral challenges preferred.
Strong communication skills and cultural competence. Relevant computer skills are essential. Valid License. Good driving record. Varied interests and personal connections in the local community. Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history.) Ability to work as part of a team. Positive, constructive. Ability to lift 50 lbs. on occasion. Ability to drive.
