What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control Specialist position at MassHire Lowell Career Center?
The Inventory Control Associate will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing, technical and accounting departments by gathering, reviewing and distributing manufacturing data as requested. In addition, this position will be responsible for updating costs within the system and support the creation or change of part codes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Manufacturing Data :
Gather daily production reports and analyze.
From data collected create or contribute to existing reports to be sent to Manufacturing and
Technical departments highlighting issues or questions.
Review daily and historical reports for trends.
Communicate and help investigate chemical job variances.
Assist in preparing periodic variance reports and identifying
Follow-up with Manufacturing and Technical employees on questions / issues not addressed.
Costing :
Work with Purchasing areas to gather updated cost schedules for raw materials.
Enter and process new / updates costs within the System.
Review reports to verify the proper entering of costs.
Assist in setting up cost standards for labor.
Help to identify and implement a better way to keep costs updated.
Support Part Code Creation / Change :
Train on how to enter new part codes and / or part code or formula changes.
Support Inventory Control personnel on keeping up with part code requests.
Review periodic reports for consistency in entering part code requests.
Other projects as considered necessary. Prepare workpapers or reports for management
request.
Continuous Improvement :
Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and
improve quality.
Collaborate with management and other teams to implement new recording, costing or data
collection.
Monitor production performance and suggest improvements for recording usage and
improving manufacturing variances.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Manufacturing Knowledge : Understanding manufacturing processes, equipment, and best
practices.
Problem-Solving : Ability to identify problems quickly and come up with effective solutions.
Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to Detail : Ability to review reports, pull out needed data and drill down to the
question / issue.
Time Management : Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Education & Experience :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; associate¿s degree in manufacturing,
industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience : 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
