Bookmobile Operator

We are looking for someone with a CDL to come drive our brand new Bookmobile part time. You can share the love of reading and movies with people from all ages and walks of life. The hours are flexible, and the work is rewarding.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· At least one of the following educational qualifications:

o 1 year of post high school training in a directly related field, with 1 year of directly related experience required; 2 years of directly related experience preferred; or,

o High school diploma or GED, with 3 years of directly related experience required; 4 years of directly related experience preferred

· Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with air brake endorsement, and good driving record

· Customer service experience, preferably in library environment, desirable

· Experience driving a bus, bookmobile, large van, or semi-truck

· Must have acceptable results on a criminal background check and Clearinghouse

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Operate bookmobile in accordance with safety regulations and state laws

· Perform routine bookmobile maintenance, such as fueling, checking fluids, and general cleaning, both interior and exterior

· Open, monitor and secure bookmobile, as assigned

· Troubleshoot, check problems, and notify manager

· Inspect generator daily, log hours, and troubleshoot generator problems

· Stock bookmobile with appropriate collection, materials, and supplies for scheduled stops

· Shelve materials on bookmobile and in bookmobile stack room

· Rotate materials on Bookmobile weekly

· Attend parades and other community events with the bookmobile—these events may be at night, on weekends and on holidays

· Perform routine circulation tasks connected with department’s services, including make Library cards

· Operate computer

· Collects fines and fees

· Follow appropriate cash handling procedures

· Maintain regular and reliable attendance

· Abide by established Library policies

· Necessary physical aspects include, but are not limited to: standing, sitting, operating office equipment, climbing steps, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing or pulling loaded carts, washing bus, and climbing ladder

· Attend appropriate meetings and workshops

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14 – 20 per week
