Job Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Head of Forecasting & Analytics, along with other team members, develop analytics that provide forward looking insights into MassMutual Ascend’s GAAP and Statutory earnings forecast
- Develop automated, efficient and self-serve analytics utilizing our reporting and forecast data
- Reliably produce analytical reports to aid in explaining our forecast results, including actual versus forecast variances. These reports will be used to drive knowledge and understanding of our core business while guiding leadership to make impactful business decisions
- Produce accurate and timely monthly reporting requirements involving analytics of actual and forecast earnings as they progress through the calendar year
- Identifies notable trends and anomalies in actual and forecast analytics
- Identify key metrics that will aid in the financial storytelling to leadership in the finance and actuarial areas. Develop and monitor automated key metrics reports to further clarify these measures
- Works to provide explanations when the integrity of the report mechanics or underlying data are the source of report variability. Identify and implement solutions as necessary
- Seek knowledge and advice from others within actuarial and finance to explain reporting results; drive the summary of those results using the business expertise of the team
- Create efficient processes for existing reporting requirements
- Recommends improvements to process and reporting content
- Builds relationships within Forecasting team as well as other in actuarial and finance to understand our analytical needs
- Provide ad hoc analysis as needed to assist the team in forecast development or in the understanding of actual versus forecast results
- Develop knowledge of actuarial data sources and business acumen to increasingly improve the teams analytical abilities.
- Based on experience, may have supervisory role

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
- 2 to 5 years of related experience in insurance, actuarial department or technical analytical role.
- Excel expertise, experience in Tableau, Power BI or other business analytics software
- Prior experience in financial planning and analysis is a plus
