Associate Engineer - Civil & Structural

The Associate Structural/ Foundation Engineer will work under the supervision of a Senior Structural/foundation Engineer to perform Solar Industry focus structural & foundation engineering. This opportunity is best suited for engineers working to be licensed Professional Engineer

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn the specialty skills of a Solar Industry focus Structural/ Foundation Engineer including but not limited to the following:

1. Apply national building codes, standards, and engineering principles to analyze and design foundations for solar power plant applications.

2. Evaluate electrochemical test data for corrosion analysis.

3. Evaluate impact on foundations from Frost Heave due to adfreeze force.

4. Evaluate impact on foundations from expansive soils, collapsible soils, sand dunes etc.

5. Calculate design life of foundations using corrosion standards (FHWA)

6. Perform desktop study to determine additional risks not normally mentioned in the Geotechnical Report.

7. Prepare structural analysis and design of pile foundation calculations considering the loads analyzed or provided by the third-party vendors, the effect of soil corrosion to piles, the effect of frost heave, the effect of soil swell, and other external forces affecting pile size and length to include but not limited the consideration of flood and soil scour, leading edge requirement, freeboards, and other owner-imposed constraints.

8. Run pile reveal analysis considering the tracker pile reveal, slope and other limitation issued the tracker vendor.

9. Analyze the terrain and topography of the site to adapt to the structural and mechanical parameters of the trackers and develop grading requirements for cut & fill using Civil 3D.

10. Prepare Pile Plot Plans and pile coordinate system that will be used by the construction team during pile installation.

11. Review documents provided by third party vendors such as Trackers, CAB Systems, MET Station, Inverter Skids and derive loads coming out of these documents to be used for the design of piles.

12. Prepare Bill of Materials

Experience:

· Minimum 3 years of Structural, foundation and geotechnical engineering

· Basic experience in Steel Design, and Concrete Design

· Basic experience in Geotechnical Testing

· Basic experience in Civil 3D software

Education:

· BS in Structural/Geotechnical/ Civil Engineering

Required Skills:

· Familiarity with necessary building codes and regulations

· Strong communication skills

· Willingness to learn.

· Proficiency in MS Office suite, AutoCAD, databases and other discipline-related design programs.

· Good verbal and written communication skills.

· Demonstrated people skills, both inside and outside the project team.

· Good time management skills and demonstrated efficiency in providing engineering support on multiple concurrent projects.

· Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering and construction.
