POSITION SUMMARY:

The Buyer II (Field) performs duties in purchasing, including bid solicitation, bid analysis, negotiation, commitment of purchase orders and expediting the products/materials to site. Performs administration of purchase orders following commitments involving, scope changes, invoicing, and purchase order closeout. The position of Buyer II (Field) will be part of the MIC construction team, providing commercial support to the assigned project, and will report to the assigned Field Procurement Manager or onsite Construction Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work closely with the assigned procurement team to purchase the highest quality equipment and materials at the lowest possible cost, in correct amounts, per specifications and drawings.
• Learn processes around the research and evaluation of suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.
• Prepare and issue Request for Proposal (RFP) equipment/material packages to qualified suppliers.
• Work with engineering to answer all RFP questions presented by suppliers.
• Receive and evaluate proposals against RFP requirements, evaluate pricing structure, delivery timeframes and modifications to terms and conditions.
• Negotiate best and final pricing from selected short-listed suppliers,
• Ensure that the company does not enter into any agreement with an external party which may harm the company’s policies and practices by performing due diligence and following vendor pre-qualification process.
• Works closely with field engineering, the material control team, home office procurement department, and accounts payables.
• Secure a completed purchasing requisition with final engineering documents, arrive at a mutually agreed set of terms and conditions and conform all purchase order exhibits/attachments.
• Monitor, support, and administer all issued field purchase orders.
• Manage stakeholder and supplier interaction within the boundaries of company policy, ensures adherence to processes and audit compliance.
• Promotes a positive work environment, exhibits a spirit of cooperation and support for coworkers. Maintains professionalism within the organization and when interacting with internal customers, external suppliers and business partners.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Five (5)- Seven (7) years of experience in procurement (preferably on-site field experience)
• Four-year college degree (Related Field Preferred: Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Supply Chain).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
• May need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
• Stamina to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
• Uncontrolled environmental conditions: Constant change in weather and site conditions.
• This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
• Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• May need to work at heights and must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; must be able to wear and utilize all safety equipment required for work at heights.
• Evaluate information based on measurable standards; and see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.

HOURS:

This position is a Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week.  Schedule is subject to projects requirements.

TRAVEL:

Travel required up to 50%.  Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record. May be asked to spend extended durations on jobsites within the US.
