Responsibilities
Backup for Payroll Specialists
Review Weekly Payroll
Oversee Prevailing Wage Compliance
Oversee Union Payroll Compliance
Mentor payroll team members
Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner
Direct the preparation of payroll related documents
Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
Manage and solve issues relating to payroll production
Review year end information to ensure accurate W-2 information
Analyze the accuracy of various burdens and fringes
Maintain a level of professional skepticism and apply critical thinking skills when receiving employee banking information to identify, communicate and reject fraudulent requests to protect company assets
Assist Payroll Manager with Workers Comp Audit, General Insurance Audit, and various other projects
Obtain and organize information for internal and external audit
Assist HR, PMs, Administrative Staff, and Employees with various information and inquiries
Prepare month end work papers for all entities
Setup & Register new withholding and unemployment in new states
Understand SOX guidelines to ensure accurate controls and segregation of duties are in place to meet compliance
Maintain and train field employees and payroll staff on all of our Payroll software’s, Viewpoint, Heavy Job, VPOne and ADP.
Analyze and recommend improvements to systems and processes
Supervisory:
- Support the Payroll Manager with training and mentoring Payroll Specialists in completing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting tasks as well as special financial or operational projects
- Provide oversight to the work assigned to Payroll Specialists
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business related area with 3 years' experience in Payroll or 4 years of Accounting, Payroll or Business related experience in lieu of degree
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
