Job Description
The Estimator plays a crucial role in preparing estimates and bids for construction projects, reviewing plans and specifications, and analyzing project costs. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry and experience with cost estimating software.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications
- Evaluate change requests, additions, and costing changes
- Resolve cost differences by analyzing and collecting information
- Write up and present budgets, reports, project schedules, and project plans
- Develop bids for construction projects
- Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, and other professionals
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A construction management degree or civil engineering degree
- At least 5 years of construction project experience
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read blueprints accurately
- Safety training and knowledge of OSHA requirements
