Role Overview:
To provide project oversight that drives efficient and accountable execution through implementation of large, strategic capex projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget. This requires collaboration and contribution to budgeting, needs assessment, best practices, and innovation. The position requires strong technical and mechanical aptitude in manufacturing processes and controls (liquid blending/formulating).
Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities:
- Point person for communications and progress reporting for assigned capex projects within U.S. and Canada.
- Will work closely and collaboratively with process safety engineer, engineering project manager, director of manufacturing and V.P. of Operations on all capex related planning and tracking.
- Responsible for putting together detailed costing and ROI analysis for project justifications that need decision board approval.
- Responsible for site assessments to craft implementation plan and best practice for leveraging internal labor/expertise and or contracting qualified third-party support.
- Able to build project work plans with detailed timelines for deliverables, milestone achievements and project completion.
- Expected to drive activities that keep projects on time and on budget, including hands-on, and in-person supervision.
- Look for opportunities to innovate processes and system configurations to improve operating efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Will co-lead effort to develop and implement a more robust loading and batching system/software for the manufacturing network.
- Participate in review, revise and support of quality and safety initiatives and audits (EHSQ collaboration).
- This position will be part of the team assessing new business opportunities that may include establishing new manufacturing sites, decommissioning old sites, piloting new systems/technology.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Education & Working Experience
- 4-year degree preferred but not required
- 10-15 years’ experience as a team leader or project manager for a similar liquid chemical processing/dispensing environment (nonhazardous).
Professional Knowledge & Skills
- Experience and expertise working in production/process environment with focus on the install, operation, and maintenance of equipment (tanks, pumping, metering, valves, and control systems).
- Strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and adaptability to overcome challenges.
- Good interpersonal skills as a team leader or collaborator (at times will need to lead calls and drive actions, while also able to play support role).
- Excellent communication skills up chain of command, within peer network, and in representing the organization to external suppliers and agencies.
- Self-motivated with a structured working style, discipline with deadlines and timeliness with administrative duties.
- Travel required to sites in Northern America as necessary, in order to manage and execute on projects (>40%).
