General Summary

Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints. Experience is a plus but on-the-job training is available!

Essential Functions

• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
• Connect pipe pieces.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems.
• Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels.
• Grade or level trench bases, using tamping machines or hand tools.
• Align and position pipes.
• Operate mechanized equipment, such as pickup trucks, rollers, tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, or backhoes.
• Locate existing pipes or utilities.

Knowledge

1. Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.

2. Ability to safely drive various vehicles.

5. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.

3. dig holes or trenches for foundations, posts, poles, or related items

4. grade or redistribute earth for roads or other construction

5. operate pneumatic tamper to patch pavement or tamp earth

6. operate power construction equipment

7. perform safety inspections in construction or resource extraction setting

8. read blueprints

9. use measuring devices in construction or extraction work

10. verify levelness or verticality, using level or plumb bob

11. understand construction specifications

30. use pressure gauges

31. apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatings

32. operate power driven pumps

Education, Training and Experience

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, one (1) year relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.

Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and/or alcohol testing.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
