Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and store trailer parts while maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Material Handling: Load and unload trailer parts safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Quality Control: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage or discrepancies and report them to the supervisor.
- Warehouse Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace. Ensure that parts are properly labeled and stored for easy access.
- Shipping and Receiving: Coordinate with carriers and logistics teams to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of shipments.
- Compliance: Follow company safety protocols and adhere to OSHA guidelines.
The primary job duties and responsibilities are included but not limited to:
• Learn and understand the Karmak parts & service work order system and use them to facilitate ordering and billing.
• Create Purchase Orders in the Karmak system for special order parts only.
• Negotiating pricing on parts ordered directly for service jobs while determining the difference between low quality items from higher quality.
• Assisting with parts receiving department when job orders come in from Vendors.
• Track orders and insure delivery timelines can be met for each job and coordinate problems as identified with department managers.
• Receive parts in the Karmak system.
• Issue parts to work orders.
• Assisting parts counter by helping overflow traffic and retail parts calls as needed.
• Unloading vendor trucks as needed.
• Order all shop supplies, gases, wire, MRO items etc.
• Work with branch management to help meet the branch team’s sales goals.
• Addition duties as necessary to support the parts and services department's as a whole.
• Operate each day upholding the core values laid out by Merritt's Senior Management.
• Keep a clean and presentable work space.
• Think outside of the existing process to improve flow and accuracy of order
Job Purpose:
The general focus of this position will be to assist the Parts/Service Manager and Shop Manager with procuring parts needed from vendors for service work orders. A successful candidate will plan, coordinate, order, prioritize, inventory and disperse work order requested items and work side by side with both the service and parts departments. Candidate will be responsible for making sure that all parts being purchased from vendors for service jobs are tracked, and billed though the MRP system correctly to each work order and then packaged and set aside for use when the trailer arrives. Candidate will research parts pricing by calling vendors to compare pricing in an effort to drive higher margins. If needed the candidate may be asked to spend time on the shop floor helping repair equipment.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, preferably in trailer parts or automotive parts handling.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks in a warehouse setting. Ability to work in all weather conditions
