Summary:
Manage the newly modernized prepress department of a long established commercial printer in the Greater Cleveland area. Ideal candidate has experience with Kodak Prinergy , Adobe Creative Suite, EFI Fiery and associated supporting software. Also should have experience producing high quality print on a tight timeline. Experience with gang run printing and imposition is a plus.
The prepress manager oversees the conversion of customer provided design files into printable/separated files for formats of the appropriate print output devices per job specs. He or she troubleshoots PDF file creation/file RIP issues and provides general technical support to customers via project coordinators. He or she also effectively communicates with co-workers to facilitate workflow in order to meet customer deadlines. Also corrects design layouts to support internal needs as well as needs of customers. Experience with Kodak Prinergy workflow and Preps/Dynastrip/Metrix a plus.
Position Objective / Summary:
The Pre-Press Manager performs all tasks involved in the preparation and layout/imposition of customer supplied artwork. This is not a creative position.
Essential Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Review job tickets for production; plan and process accordingly
· Handle multiple jobs in various production stages
· Review proofs and artwork from customers and returns to prepress
· Analyze customer files for fonts, images, integrity and printability
· Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral
or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Adhere to quality control procedures
· Performs other duties when assigned
· Ability to effectively communicate with fellow employees.
· Performs related duties as needed by supervision
· Makes recommendations for process improvement to reduce costs
