SUMMARY
Responsible for the direct oversight of program operations, staff, volunteers and guests, including immediate response to client situations with appropriate crisis intervention and conflict resolution strategies. Also responsible for the implementation of weekend programming and activities for adults and children.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Provide direction and oversight for program operations, including all aspects of the center.
- Provide direct supervision to shift monitor and program assistant staff, including conducting regular and as needed supervision meetings and training.
- Oversee the management and coordination of all daily programming including assignments for laundry, showers, chores, and token distribution.
- Ensure client preparation, and attendance for Parenting Plus, life skills, job readiness, and computer classes), and communicate attendance and/or compliance issues to the Senior Director.
- Complete shift supervisor and program assistant weekly schedules and ensure coverage for all shifts.
- Complete intakes for new guests, entering all demographic data into the R.O.S.I.E. system, and track services entered into R.O.S.I.E.
- Monitor guest’s nightly attendance, comparing roll call sheets with ‘excused absence’ log. Follow up on reasons for ‘unexcused’ absences and makes recommendations to the Case Manager and Senior Director regarding next steps for guests with unexcused absences.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Oversee the preparation and/or coordination of the serving of meals to guests of the Hannah More Family Shelter, participate in the preparation and serving of the meal as necessary. Oversee proper use of donated foods, tracks and acknowledges receipt of in-kind donations. Oversee the scheduled maintenance of meal service area, kitchen area, and food pantry, as well as common space and dormitory areas.
- Provide guidance in the management of mental health crisis and other client ‘crisis’ situations with recommendations for immediate and follow-up action in the absence of the Case Manager or Senior Director.
- Promote an atmosphere of care, respect, and support among guests, volunteers and staff in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Assist with and attend special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.
- Uphold the vision, mission, and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Meet regularly with supervisor and attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed.
- Support a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field.
- 3 years’ supervisory experience.
- 2 years’ experience working with, and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of, persons who are materially poor and/or homeless, and the ability to be comfortable working with persons of all socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
- Experience in crisis intervention, behavior management, and/or conflict resolution.
- An understanding and respect for the confidentiality of clients.
- Good organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to facilitate reflective and educational discussion with individuals and groups.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
