Sr Project Manager

Job: Sr Project manager
Location: Lansing MI (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)
Interview: Second round interview is in person

This Project Manager will lead a $20 million modernization project, which will be highly complex and require:

• Extensive change and vendor management skills.
• Experience with Microsoft DevOps.

General Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Execution:

   • Design, plan, and coordinate work teams.
   • Follow industry-standard project management practices such as PMI's framework.
   • Understand business and technical objectives of the project and work closely with project sponsors.
   • Create project charters and work plans while tracking budget and schedule progress via appropriate metrics.
   • Establish project organization, methodologies, and roles and responsibilities.

2. Risk Management:

   • Document risks and develop mitigation plans.
   • Manage project scope effectively.

3. Communication and Team Building:

   • Develop and implement a project communication plan.
   • Build effective teams, assign tasks to members, and evaluate outcomes.
   • Negotiate resources and ensure seamless communication with stakeholders and project sponsors.

4. Issue Resolution and Technical Support:

   • Identify, track, and ensure resolution of issues and removal of barriers.
   • Provide technical support to project members as needed.

5. Complex Application Features and Designs:

   • Handle complex application features and technical designs.
   • Design and implement components for advanced application features.

6. Project Leadership:

   • Manage a group of application systems analysts.
   • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
   • Ensure tasks, schedules, and deliverables are aligned with the project plan.

Management and Oversight

• Provide direction for the formulation, development, implementation, and delivery of the project.
• Exercise responsibility for achieving performance, revenue, and profit objectives of the project and contracts.
• Ensure quality, productivity, and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
• Direct corrective actions when performance falls below objectives.
• Coordinate responsibilities among supporting facilities, business areas, and support functions.

Reporting and Monitoring

• Monitor and summarize project progress, setting deadlines and assigning responsibilities.
• Prepare reports for executives and upper management regarding project status.
• Present project status during regularly scheduled program steering meetings.

Additional Notes

• Professional certification is highly desirable.
• May require specific PC, workstation, operating system, application, or platform skills.
• Self-directed and independent, capable of managing all aspects of projects.

Desired experience:

• 5 years of experience managing projects with budgets greater than $20 million.
• 5 years Agile Leadership Experience (document in resume).
• Past 5 years of experience must be as a Project Manager working on IT Projects.
• Documented experience managing an IT project in a large, complex enterprise-governed IT ecosystem.
• Microsoft DevOps Experience.
• Program management experience highly desired; experience working with other project managers to ensure technology integration between systems.
• Must be local to Lansing, Michigan area. Work will be Tuesday and Wednesday in office; Monday, Thursday, and Friday can be remote (non-negotiable).
  • Address on Michigan driver's license will be verified prior to interview.
• Previous SOM experience highly desired.
