Overall Purpose: The Process Engineer is integral to our operations, focusing on developing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing process plans for the production of precision machine components and assemblies. This role ensures that all process developments incorporate safety, environmental, and ergonomic considerations, thereby supporting Masterbilt’s business goals and objectives related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:

  • Develop Machining Processes: Study work orders, part blueprints, materials,      specifications, engineering plans, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Utilize  CAD/CAM Software: Employ CAD/CAM software for part modeling, process drawing development, CNC programming, and inspection equipment programming.
  • Maintain Process Documentation: Develop and maintain PFMEAs, flow charts, process sheets, operator standard work instructions, and visual controls. Manage control plans, balloon prints, and process prints.
  • Machine  Setup and Troubleshooting: Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments,      collets, and indicating vices for troubleshooting, training, or process design purposes.
  • Develop Fixturing Designs: Create and implement fixturing designs and tools for proper work holding.
  • Maintain Specifications: Observe operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, and analyze and improve tools while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Ensure Safe Operations: Follow and enforce safety procedures and regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Define preventive maintenance requirements, follow manufacturer's instructions, troubleshoot malfunctions, and arrange for repairs when necessary.
  • Documentation: Complete MRP, production, and quality documentation accurately.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry advancements by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Adaptability: Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:   Minimum of 5 years of progressive hands-on experience in developing,      implementing, and training new manufacturing processes within a heavy manufacturing environment related to metals.
  • Functional  Skills:
    • Hands-on involvement in production activities to collect data and create best-practice solutions.
    • Excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills.
    • Detail-oriented and thorough with strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Prior  Six-Sigma experience is helpful.
  • Technology      Aptitude/Skills: Proficient in PC skills, MS Office, ERP, CAD, and design software.
  • Language      Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; strong ability to create/write work instructions and train others.
  • Leadership/Behaviors:      Strong collaboration skills, openness to new ideas, positive attitude,      flexibility, and adaptability. Ability to conceptualize and initiate projects effectively.
  • Culture      Match Behaviors: Respectful, honest, and steady personality who handles situations with optimism while holding people accountable. Good listener who can be flexible, invoke great ideas, and make the best decisions to help the organization grow and develop.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle as required for travel.
  • Ability to stand for up to 6-8 hours in one session.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for 2 hours per day.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and view a computer screen as needed throughout the day.
  • Ability to write ideas/information logically throughout the day.
  • Ability to read and respond continuously due to the nature of the work.
  • Ability to communicate via phone, in-person, and computer regularly.
  • Ability to listen, problem-solve, and respond accordingly.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, squat, twist, push, pull, and carry items frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. sporadically.

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

  • Regular exposure to an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise.
  • Occasional requirement to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while visiting manufacturing departments, such as safety glasses.
  • Limited travel, less than 5%.
  • May face inclement weather conditions when traveling.
