Job Description
As the Materials Manager, you will oversee materials planning and inventory management across the facility, driving improvements in material flow to support a lean manufacturing environment. Your leadership will be key in optimizing logistics, minimizing costs, and ensuring operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal materials management activities at the Jackson, GA facility.
- Develop and implement a materials strategy to enhance customer service, increase inventory turns, and minimize excess inventory.
- Optimize material flow within the manufacturing facility by streamlining logistics processes to reduce costs, maximize resource utilization, and decrease work in process.
- Provide leadership and direction to Warehousing and Receiving teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting, scrap transaction validation, and record-keeping.
- Oversee the annual inventory process and audit plant scrap to maintain compliance and operational integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience, demonstrating strong leadership and talent development skills.
- Proven problem-solving ability with a track record of driving process improvements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Ability to provide strategic and hands-on leadership in all aspects of materials management.
- Experience working with MRP systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- A results-driven change agent with strong people and project management skills.
