Job Description
As the Materials Manager, you will lead materials planning processes and inventory management throughout the facility to improve material flow consistent with the requirements of a lean manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the internal materials management activities at the Jackson facility.
- Develops and executes a materials strategy to improve customer service, increase inventory turns, and reduce excess inventory.
- Improve material flow within the manufacturing facility through the development of a streamlined logistics process to minimize cost, optimize resource utilization, and reduce work in process.
- Provide leadership for Warehousing and Receiving personnel.
- Responsible for inventory record accuracy, cycle counts, and scrap accuracy transactions.
- Lead and manage annual inventory process as well as auditing plant scrap.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related educational discipline preferred.
- 5 years of experience in materials management in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of experience in a supervisory role, exhibiting positive leadership traits and talent development.
- Demonstrated problem solving capability.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels within the organization.
- Ability to provide leadership to peers and subordinates on all subjects related to materials
- A familiarity with MRP systems.
- A working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
- A change agent with superior people and project management skills
