Job Description
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all receiving, storage, and replenishment activities to ensure efficient material flow and inventory accuracy. This role focuses on developing and deploying best practices to optimize day-to-day operations, including inventory control, customer backorder recovery, space planning, third-party logistics (3PL) management, optimizing pick locations, and supporting new product launches. The leader in this role will drive operational excellence through coaching, mentoring, and the application of lean principles to achieve key objectives related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, customer service, and inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the performance of the receiving and put-away team, ensuring efficiency in receiving, storage, inventory control, backorder recovery, space utilization, and 3PL management.
- Lead the picking and replenishment team, ensuring accurate inventory control, on-time delivery, and escalation of quality issues as needed.
- Drive achievement of key operational metrics related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, customer service, and inventory accuracy.
- Implement best practices through lean methodologies, including Kaizen events, value stream mapping, problem-solving, A3 action planning, and standard work.
- Leverage data-driven decision-making to optimize workflow, improve customer service, and enhance storage efficiency. Proactively identify and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in material flow.
- Regularly audit current processes to identify opportunities for improvement and reinforce a continuous improvement mindset across the team.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 20-25 employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management
- Minimum of 3 years management experience in manufacturing, warehousing or distribution
- Experience with Lean Management
- Experience with warehouse management systems
- Expertise with Excel, PowerPoint
