Job Description
The Superintendent is responsible for leading a Business Unit and providing management, guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence. This role oversees production planning, staff scheduling, and work operations in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring quality, cost, and delivery goals are met. Additionally, the Superintendent is accountable for the development and performance of direct reports, including Supervisors and Quality Associates.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership and continuous improvement guidance to the team in the areas of quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
- Coach and mentor Supervisors and Quality Associates to ensure adherence to MasterBrand’s values, policies, and performance standards.
- Ensure that all employment decisions, performance reviews, and career development plans for direct reports are executed effectively.
- Lead and support MasterBrand Production System (MPS) initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing principles and waste reduction efforts.
- Work collaboratively with other Superintendents and Business Units to implement process improvements that enhance plant efficiency.
- Evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes, production schedules, and workforce planning to meet production goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, driving innovation in manufacturing operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety and environmental standards.
- Promote and enforce company policies, procedures, and workplace safety programs.
- Monitor and maintain a safe and organized work environment, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Analyze production schedules and allocate resources effectively to meet business objectives.
- Establish and adjust work procedures as needed to maintain production efficiency.
- Evaluate workforce and equipment requirements for new products or process changes.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing principles, including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and waste elimination techniques.
- Proven leadership experience in planning, directing, and training teams in a production setting.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, delegation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and develop employees.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment.
- Experience in driving operational improvements, change management, and performance-based leadership.
