Masterguard, a leading manufacturer of automotive components, seeks a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist to ensure adherence to corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental compliance programs, maintaining the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and permits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Program Development: Develop and implement various environmental compliance programs, including air emissions, stormwater, industrial wastewater, DOT, and solid/liquid/universal/hazardous waste programs.
- ISO 14001 Maintenance: Maintain Masterguard's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, representing the facility during audits.
- Training and Contingency Planning: Provide environmental management training, conduct job site inspections, and develop contingency plans (SPCC, SWPPP, and RCRA).
- Chemical Management: Manage on-site chemicals, including inventory, ordering, and compiling periodic summaries of chemical use.
- Waste Management: Manage waste streams, including hazardous, non-hazardous, liquid industrial wastes, and recycling programs.
- Air Permitting: Ensure compliance with facility-specific air permitting requirements, including completing necessary reports.
- Wastewater Pretreatment: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local industrial wastewater pretreatment permits.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with SWPPP and SPCC regulations, as well as corporate environmental requirements.
- New Project Review: Review new projects, process changes, and chemical changes to determine the need for environmental permits, controls, or procedural changes.
- Cost Improvement Programs: Organize cost improvement programs associated with wastes, chemicals, and environmental improvement programs.
- Representative: Represent the facility during environmental regulatory inspections.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental management or a related field or five years of environmental management work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Current Indiana Industrial Wastewater Class C or D certification or ability to obtain this certification.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations, compliance, and reporting, including State of Indiana IDEM and EPA regulations.
- Thorough understanding of the ISO 14001 standard requirements. ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification or ability to obtain this certification.
- Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain this certification.
- Ability to work effectively independently and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to effectively work with a team to successfully implement projects.
- Highly motivated, service-oriented individual with attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Troubleshooting ability required.
- Demonstrated good communication and internal customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
